You'll succomb to the effect of the "Bel Ouvrage", a robust reflection of the Savennières slopes.
Savennières : The sandy, silty soil contains lot of clay and the mother-rock is damaged. The sub-soil is also more geologically complex (different types of shist, rhyolite, phtanite, sandstone, quartz).
Here, Chenin is king, as it is the only variety autorised to produce Savennières appellation wines.
